Now, and always, we’re reminded that our work begins with tending to the place we live and the human and non-human neighbors we live among. Join artist Hadassah GreenSky (Little Traverse Bay Band Citizen and resident of occupied Detroit / Waawiyaatanong) to learn about the Anishinaabe concept of Mino Bimaadiziwin, or the Good Life, its influence on the past, attentiveness to the current moment, and reverence for the world and future generations.

Join Got Grief House on Belle Isle for a grief walk. We'll spend this time honoring our collective grief by walking alongside the river and spending quiet time in nature. We will mostly walk in silence with optional opportunities to share after the walk.

Intro to Quilting with Saylem Celeste

Join us for our second Queer Ecology Lab workshop, Intro To Quilting Workshop with saylem mississippi celeste and Ellen Rutt. In this four hour event participants will learn the revolutionary social practice of quilting. We will discuss several place-based traditions related to quilting, align our quilting with its roots in transformative justice, and honor the quilting tradition within your own practice and lineage.

Natural Dye Workshop with Kayla Powers

Explore place-based art and seasonal color through the traditional processes of foraging and dyeing. In this four hour Natural Dye Workshop, participants will explore place-based art and seasonal color through the traditional processes of foraging and dyeing. Together, we will ethically and sustainably collect plants, prepare cotton, linen, and hemp fabric for dyeing, and bond color to cloth.

Life Drawing

Studio For Now hosts seasonal life drawing classes, all are welcome no experience needed.

During each three hour drawing session, we will have two models providing us with live poses. The time will be organized into three segments: a warm-up period for quick gesture sketches, then several 10-minute poses, and finally an hour-long pose.
